The difference in height between the central nave and the side naves.
This allows the central nave to reach an unprecedented interior height of 44 m
and open a very large claristory (in which the rose window stands out),
This forces to use many buttresses, with double arcade of flying buttresses
in the style of northern Europe.
The pillars that support the roof can be considered as a real architectural
marvel from the point of view of engineering. Octagonal section, very slender
and without attached columns, they reach the maximum height allowed by the material
used, offering a wide open space for the faithful and, together with the rose window
of the headboard, the presence of one of the best achieved Gothic "space-road" in the world.
