We were told to walk to the Vatican early to beat the crowd.  On the 9th we walked in at about 7:50am and found no crowd.

8-Apr-2025   /   Arrived in Rome and we made a quick check on how to get to the Vatican from our Suite..

"The Saint Angel Bridge" goes from "The Bridge Suites" across the "River Tiber"
to the "Castel Sant'Angelo".

"Vittorio Emanuele II Bridge" west on the "River Tiber" from the "The Bridge Suites"
and then on to "Vatican City", the tall building in the center

On the 28th we traveled from the Port in Civitavecchia to Rome the Bus Station then on to "The Bridge Suites" by Taxi.
After checking in to our Suite we wanted to be sure we knew how to get to the Vatican, so we walked guickly to the Vatican, arrived 7;00pm.

7:45am arrived early as we entered the Vatican City.

No crowds were present. This made it worth getting an early start.

The "Holy Doors" in Saint Peter's Basilica are open to the public every 25 years for 1 year.

Just inside the "Holy Doors" is Michelanglo's "PIETA".   This is located behind a Bulletproof window for its protection.

Peter was cursified on the cross but he requested that he be placed on a cross upside down.

9-Apr-2025   /  After a short rest we got on a Hop-On Hop-Off bus to get a quick look at what we were planning for tomorrow.

The Colosseum is definitely on our list of places where we MUST stop tomorrow.
