The Captain had previously warned that the weather might be a problem. When the Volendam arrived at Devil's Island, the Captain started evaluating the SAFTY of landing hist passengers: - The Wind was HIGH, this created high seas but the Captain continued. - The RAIN was going to poteniialy be a problem, light now but would likely could get harder by noon. The passengers might wet but if they dressed properly this would not be a problem. - As the Tender was brought around to the boarding area there was a problem seen. The waves were causing the Tender to move rapidly up/down about 3 ft. Not SAFE! - The Captain looked as "Can he move closer to shore? The water was not deep enough to allow this. The final decision was that the passengers could not load the tenders safly and cancelled the visit to Divel's Island. |
