On the day before the Zuiderdam was due to dock in Gambia they informed that ship that they wanted all persons onboard to pay the $115.00 Visa cost. As a result we were provided with a free Shuttle Bus ride to the Banjul Albert Market, home of an array of local arts, craafts, and unique items. |

The day was full of surprises:- After eating Breakfast we went out and looked around the art and craft items being sold. - Next we located the line waiting for the Shuttle Bus. - When the Shuttle Bus arrived it could not hold all in the line, but we 1st on the next one. - As we left the port we found that the road was in poor shape and one place it was flooded. - Leaving the port behind we drove through virous levels of housing. - At one coner we passed turned right as we passed McCarty Square that contained a large sports field. - Next we took a jog to the left and it looked like we were driving around several buildings. - Dirt roads took us in front of the Banjul Albert Market. Here the Shuttle stopped. - The market was interesting. Lots of bright colored clothing, wood carvings large and small, and art work. - After about an hour we were ready to return to the Zuiderdan. - After a short wait we got on the next Shuttle heading back to the Zuiderdam. |
