On 7-Jul on our Bus tour we visited "Multnomah Falls". After this visit I remembered that I had visited thes area previously. In 1994 I was in the area on a Job interview and after the
interview. I was shown some of the sights in the local area and was shown a waterfall that I really liked. It was just a short hike to the waterfall. To get to the waterfall we need to
follow a part way along a trail beside the stream. But before we reached the water fall we had to wade in the stream to reach the place where we could view the waterfall. I was told where it was and on the 9th we had a free day so we started to the "Lower Oneonta Gorge Falls" that morning. This is what we found. |

but before reaching the tunnel we noted the fence blocking the access to a small stream. |

The trail has issues due to natural as well as human impacts. In the late 1990s, the stream was partially occluded when three large boulders (the size of "pickup trucks") tumbled into the stream. Subsequently, a log jam has formed in the midst of the slot canyon. This has created a hazard for hikers, which led to a fatality in 2011. As of November 2020, trails providing access to the stream amd waterfalls remain closed due to damage from the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire.
