Check-in to Shirley House Self Catering Guest House. |

The Taxie ride thru town was nice until near the end the neighborhood began to look run down. Shortly the driver stopped in front of a house that had no indication that is was a Guest House. The driver then moved on up the road about two houses and there was a sigh "Shirley House Self Catering Guest House" We unloaded our luggage and the driver left. We went inside and were told that we did NOT have a reservation there. They suggested that we walk back up two houses and check there. They gave us the run around but finally said that they had a room for us. We went upstairs to the 2nd floor, no eleviator, and found our room. The 1st thing that we noted was that it was HOT and we discovered that the house was not air conditioned, just 2 fans in the room. We did locate outside our door a small public restroom. Since it was only for one night we decided that we had little choice since it was late in the day by then. We unpacked a minimun and went out side to find a place to eat. Only one resturant but the food was exceptable. |
