Upper Antelop Canyon
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Page, AZ

- Toured the Upper Antelop Canyon in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

The Antelop Canyon, and several other canyons, are owned by the Navajo Tribe and these canyons are only accessable by guided tours. This is done to protect the canyons.
Reservations can be made on the internet from several tour companies or you can get a walk-on tour by going to the tour entrance on Hwy US-89 near Page, AZ, auto and RV parking is provided. We chose this route and we arrived around 11:20 and were on a tour stating at 12:00.
The tour starts at the entrance with a 15 min drive to the canyon entrance. This is in truck holding 12 persons and capable of driving in the desert sand. The canyon is about 1/2 mile walk on a flat sand surface and takes about 1 hour. The tour goes through the canyon with the tour guide talking about the canyon and helping you get good photos. You pass through the canyon once and then return through the canyon to the truck and back to the parking area. The total time for the tour is about 90 min.
